Elotes are grilled corn on the cob with toppings including queso cotija, mayonnaise, and chili powder with a slice of lime. The chosen brand for this structure is La Esquina, a restaurant with locations in Soho, UES, and Midtown that serves authentic Mexican food.

Generally, the "packaging" for elotes is either paper food trays - typically for hot dogs and tacos - or wrapping it in aluminum foil or foil with paper backing. There is no existing structure dedicated to packaging elotes to-go. Elotes are a messy food and the goals for this project were to create a foldable to-go carton that can be shipped flat, easily assembled and require no adhesive, convenient to pack and consume, and when unpacked can become a placemat.
